This week's Comic Shop Talk is filled with juicy goodness, including Emerald Speedsters written reviews. Check it out inside
6th place X-Men Schism #5 (of5)
This mini event had its ups and downs, from the story itself as well as the art, ESPECIALLY on the art. This issue was action packed but a bit anti-climactic, the only real issue there was whether to use mutant children as weapons or not in order to protect mutant kind. And of course that’s why Logan argued with Scott, the ending of the book was a little heartwarming per say. Bottom line to all those people who agreed that this whole debacle could have been solved over a cup of coffee, you were ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! There was NO NEED for this story to ever happen, it was 5 issues too many. But it was a decent read for the Water Closet none the less.
5th place is a TIE!!!
Justice League International # 2
It was solid, Dan Jurgens moves the story along pretty well, only two things made this issue worth while
1. They reveal that Skeets is still around, and not a sad bluetooth
2. Even in the NEW 52, Batman is STILL Batman
This book is going places
Red Lanterns # 2
Poetic, one of the few words that describe this book thus far. The artwork and story boarding looks like they were inspired by Rob Liefield, and Atrocitus has been turned into a philosophical S.O.B and to top it off he decides to give his corps a little bit of consciousness, the question now is. Who would he choose to be intellectually on par with him? I guess you’ll have to read it and find out.
3rd place Detective Comics #2
I was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!! Tony S. Daniel started off TOO strong on the first issue. This issue did not top it, you would think that for someone who’s been in the biz as long as he had he would have learned NOT to start off with a bang. But hey, he gave us one hell of a first issue, and because of that I for one will remain patient to see where this book goes.
2nd place Stormwatch #2
A lot of things happen; Martian Manhunter proves that he’s a methodical badass. The stormwatch team seems like they’re going through a rough patch and to top it off they got to fight none other than the moon. Now, will Apollo and the Mid-Nighter join the team and stop a threat that could possibly destroy the planet?? Only one way to find out right
P.S-their send off is pretty interesting, it’s worth taking a look
1st place Action Comics #2
Grant Morrison KNOWS how to build up a Story, superman is still a douche bag and his persona as well as his powers is a bit grounded. Lex Luthor is played out beautifully, and for the first time ever we get to see the man of steel laugh like a maniac. And be two steps ahead of Lex, there’s only one way to describe this issue. So to quote the great Grant Morrison “you can tell he’s in danger simply because he’s no longer in motion!” Thus living up to the books name sake.
This has been the Emerald Speedster with this week comics and until next time…DEUCES!!!
