Early Bird Special

The last Early bird special of the year is ready get it while its hot folks.

Now for the second act, we would like to welcome you to the final Early Bird review special of 2011 and as always we will review the top 6 books in order from least to BEAST!!!

6th place- deadpool # 48

This issue had quite a bit to say and I listened loud and clear, and that was the fact that Daniel Way is FINALLY getting up out of his lazy ass and actually putting an effort on his story, thought it still feels neutered it is starting to give off that 90's Deadpool vibe that we've all come to know and love.

The book took place at two simultaneous hostage situations at two separate locations hosted by the same guy, Deadpool and it is up to Captain America to make any sense out of this predicament, and figure out how to asses the problem, kind of like killing two birds with one stone.

5th place- Uncanny X-Men # 3

This issue puts a sudden (but much needed) end to the first story arc involving Mr. Sinister and the Golden Celestials (for those who don't know, Golden Celestials are sentinel like entities but on steroids and acid)

Honestly the whole point of this short story was to prove that Scott's team could stare a god in the eye and make'em blink which is kind of redundant in my opinion, but hey, like they say at Marvel, if it's broken don't fix it.

4th place- Avengers children's crusade # 8 (of9)

This book is all about the scarlet witch and it deals with the ramifications of the past House of M    event.  The reason why we chose it to be in the countdown aside from it being the penultimate issue is because a special dictator happens to gain the power of the life force itself for just a little while, that and because the last issue will deal a lot  with the upcoming A v X event in March.

3rd place- kick-ass 2 # 6

This book by Mark Millar just keeps getting better and with every issue the plot thickens, hit girl is officially back in action and she is out for blood, I sure would hate to be the poor sucker that she's gunning for right about now, and to top things off the criminal formerly known as red mist a.k.a the Mother F-er unveils a plan that could vary well change the entire landscape of the story.  This book is one to watch. But don't blink or you might miss all the awesomeness.

2nd place- Aquaman #4

This marks the end of "the trench" story arc proving once more that if the blackest night team of Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis can't make the lamest most useless hero of all time relevant and cool then nobody can. On this fast paced issue Aquaman and Mera visit the source where the man eating primitive man-fish like creatures came from and sought to it that they stay there and never harm anyone again, but what made the book enjoyable aside from the non stop action on every other page is the fact that Geoff Johns knows the exact spot where to throw a little humor and a slight jab at the character that he's helping build up, question: is it possible that there might be a reason for all those backhanded compliments? Only one way to find out right?

1st place-The Flash #4

Yes, Francis Manapul finally made the top spot on our countdown and he deserved it, for who else can come up with a cleverly comb alluded premiss for a story and still be able to make it google friendly. As he explores the limitations of Barry Allen's new found "mental" speed force apparently there are some side effects to gaining too much , too fast but at the vary least we got two things out of it.

1- Apparently Barry's best friend has a near deadpool like healing factor

2- even a speeding bullet is still too slow for the fastest man alive.

So look out for this and many more to come for The Flash might possibly become a power player for the New 52.

These were the books that shook the business in a flash for the FINAL week of 2011.
