The early bird gets the worm, and so does Emerald Speedster once again the eMc show is proud to present the first comic reviews on the net. GET'EM WHILE THERE HOT
Welcome, to another edition of the Early Bird Special, where we give you our input earlier than everyone else simply because we're raw like that. As always, we grab the top 6 books in order from least to beast and throw them at YO FACE! So let's get started shall we? 6th place- Scarlet Spider #1
For being the first appearance in a long time from Kaine in Ben Riley's and or Peters suit in a setting that apparently seems to be unfamiliar to the Marvel Universe (Houston, TX.) this book was ok at best. There was no new information released other than the fact that he's in Houston. Nonetheless the story written by Christopher Yost was tolerable and the art barely met standards, the pacing was steady and the storyboarding was standard. In all honesty I do NOT see anything special about this book other than the fact that the setting is in Houston and it makes one wonder how a Spiderman-like character can web sling outside of downtown. It was a bad start to a first issue but an ok book overall, so it doesn't hurt to give it a whirl. 5th place- Wolverine and the X-Men #4
This issue ties in perfectly with the events that happened during the Dark Angel saga on the uncanny X-force and apparently some of those characters in that book might become part of the school in one way or another, so with the new additions to the roster there's a chance that this book and the uncanny X-force book will be tied in for the foreseeable future. The pacing was great and for a filler issue you only get about 5 pages worth of Logan, and everyone else has some funny bits including their special guest speaker from the future. Overall this book is a good read for anyone who’s interested. P.S- the ending will raise some questions. 4th place- Carnage U.S.A # 2(of 5)
Picking right up from the aftermath of the Carnage mini series it is established that Cletus Cassidy has once again regained control of the Carnage Symbiote and he now has a plan to share his "gift" not just to a town but also to the entire world. Now with the Avengers not being themselves at the moment and Spiderman being the only functional member and all the other Sybiotes either gone or missing, the government decided to step in and take on Cletus themselves with the aid of a special strike force and a special somebody who has a personal vendetta towards Carnage. In the end this book was entertaining and fun, though the art is still a bit hard to digest. 3rd place- DC Universe Online #21
We all know that if any particular man could have a plan for anything and everything that man would be Batman. Now with Batman about to kill an entire army… Can the Green Lantern Corps get there in time to convince the caped crusader to do otherwise? Or will we see a completely different side to the Dark Knight. P.S. There's one part in particular that will make you chuckle, it involves Luthor. 2nd place- Batman and Robin # 5
This issue was just like the ones before it, heart warming. The book had a great flow and the tone was second to none. It really gives the reader a feel of Bruce’s pain when said incident happens upon the Wayne household. Maybe it's this reviewers severed connection to his father and any parental figures in his life that play in this series close to the vest. Or maybe it's the fact that for once we as an audience are witnessing a side of Bruce that we've dreaded but were curious to see (his imperfections as a person and a father.) Whatever the case may be this is still a great book with truly solid story by Peter J. Tomassi that only keeps getting better. 1st place- Green Lantern # 5
This book was GANSTA from start to finish, there weren't any real curve balls in this issue but the story was so locked tight that it made you wonder what will happen next at every turn, and at the same time Siniestro's voice throughout the entire arc is actually quite pleasant. Now that this issue marks the end of the first arc, what is next for the guardians and for Siniestro? Who’s this "First Lantern" they speak of? And are the corps on the brink of war yet again? There’s only one way to find out, right? P.S- Keep an eye on the Guardians and Hal These were the books that lit my Green power battery for the week of January 11, 2012 Please leave the love, hate and death threats on the comment section B-LOW ME!!!
