Early Bird Special

Today on the Early Bird Special you can forget the Top 6 books, because we will be discussing more important things such as Marvels inability to come up with a decent event, Image and IDW publications are on the rise and they took Dark Horse out of the 3rd spot, and the non-existent reason why Captain Cold no longer uses his ice gun… And much much more! (That would be nice for once, huh?)

6th place- Green Lantern New Guardians # 5

This book made no sense what so ever, what kind of a douchebag writes a story this brief and boring with no interesting dialogue? And what kind of an inconsiderate ass hat goes from KILLING MOGO POINT FREAKING BLANK! To making Larfreeze a “devil-type” figure and giving his constructs personality, breaking all continuity that Geoff Johns worked so hard to put on the fluffy bastard. Tony freaking Bedard, that’s who!

I usually like to review the best things that come out during the week but it's been a while since I ranted off and buried a book or series (Superman: Grounded)

Coming from a long time lantern fan, compared to its other counterpart titles this book has been nothing but garbagé (French for garbage) which also means it’s worse than the average garbage because at least you make something from crap! They've had 5 FUCKING ISSUES to get to the actual point of the story and it still feels like I'm reading the second issue. Most books have already gone to where they need to be; yet this specific title has been nothing but a disappointment and disgrace to all the Green Lantern mythos. DiDio should do something right for once and fire Bedard because the guy absolutely sucks! Hell, I bet Keith Griffen can write a better GL story and I hate his writing, but the main point is that when you have 5 issues and you still haven't done anything memorable or note worthy with the book you might as well call it quits and go to Marvel where they appreciate that type of garbagé!

Trust me when I say this folks, when you have a book that does nothing but stall their premise and uses up a panel just so Larfreeze could say: “Rat, Waffle, Cheese” then you're better off buying the newest Ultimate Spiderman title and never looking back!

I believe this type of negligence and stupidity towards a story should not be tolerated but should be punished. So yea, DON'T PICK IT UP!!

5th place- Fantastic Four # 602

It's Ironic how one man can make a decent book such as this one, and make something so moronic at the same time (FF). This book though it sadly ties in to the FF shows some promise, in this issue you get The Avengers picking up Reed’s slack. Reed goes to desperate measures in order to save the Earth from yet another kree takeover attempt, and not to mention he's still got the other reeds to worry about. And to top it off the Celestial’s show up making this a fight to remember.

Q: Are these Celestials the same Celestials that got their asses handed to them by Cyclops' X-Team? Yes or No. You decide!

4th place- Teen Titans #5

The book answers a simple and rhetorical question:

Can any of them defeat Superboy?

The answer to that is simple, Hell no!

But at least they got an A for effort. This book finally has the unofficial team together (minus Connor of course) and they have them pinned up against the boy of steel. Though it's fast paced and with well placed dialogue it still feels like there are questions that NEED to be answered, let's hope that the next issue sheds some light on our query.

3rd place- Justice league # 5

I wish there was more to say about a book being written and drawn by the best in the business today, but there is really not much other than it being fluid and with a faster pacing than The Flash. Darkseid finally arrived, and by the looks of it he's got big plans for Earth, the league got caught off guard and there were parts in the book where certain heroes showed their true colors. In the end they got to formulate a plan to stop the God of Darkness from doing whatever it is he wants to do to Earth but can they do it without Superman and Batman before its too late? There’s only one way to find out, right?

2nd place- Flash # 5

Looks like writer Francis Manapul is picking up the pace as this issue marks the end of the first Flash arc ending the Mob Rule story... for now.

They already released that the next villain on the line up is Captain Cold, but what made this issue note worthy was the simple fact that the same guy that's helping Flash test the limits of his speed force has found the reason for the E.M.P blast not to mention the culprit. The story itself was awesome the art and storyboarding made by Manapul is as fluid as the Scarlet Speedster himself. Overall, this book (as well as the title) is one to take note of, and in the end you won't believe what happens next.

1st place- Aquaman #5

Well I'll be damned! The Blackest Night Team has done it again as they take an irrelevant hero and make him cool for once!

Yes folks, this issue of Aquaman starts off on a high note as Arthur gets a phone call from the government in the middle of the night asking him for some insight on an ancient artifact that they thought was related to him, but what Arthur does not know is that there might be a surprise waiting for him, or a honest coincidence. In general I like the idea of Aquaman staying grounded yet dignified as if he's mastered his powers and he's just polishing them up while trying to live as close to a normal life as possible.

The pacing is great, the flow is impeccable and the story is amazing. This book is a MUST READ!

These were the SEA WORTHY books that came out on the week of January 25th 2012.
