I liked Pink Panther it was a silly movie that knew it was crap and didn’t try to be any thing else. Needless to say I was expecting the same from part 2.
But that is not what I got. Pink Panther 2 is movie so full of it’s self it needs deflating and I am sure just about every one who sees it will do just that. Or should I say all the people who won’t see it. You see, what ever money Pink Panther made Pink Panther 2 will come no where near it. The first Panther was light and fluffy and ran 93 minutes and felt like it ran 100 at most.
Part 2 is 92 minutes and feels like a 150 minutes. It drags on and on with bits and skits from movies Mel Brooks did 20 years ago, only there it was funny. Here its crap. I know, I know but, you liked part 1, I did like part 1. Mainly because the people involved in part 1 knew they were making a crap film and did there best with it. Here it feels like they looked at the box office for part 1 and thought they were better than what they are. Well Pink Panther 2 proves there not, at least not anymore.
Jean Reno had a purpose in part 1, an actual role. Here he could be swapped with Eddie Murphy and it would not matter. Some how($$$$$) the producers mananged to get Alfred Molina, Andy Garcia and John Cleese to join in on the cheese. I am sad to say none survive with a shred of dignity. Andy Garcia changes his accent just about every other line. John Cleese does nothing. Kevin Klien was funny in part 1, why is John not funny in part 2? Alfred Molina, well Alfred Molina wears a tutu.
All in all stay home or see something else. The best part of this movie is when it ends, so you can go home.
