Emerald Speedster faces deep rage this week, will he survive for next? Find out now.
6th place Deadpool #43 Yes ladies and gentlemen, Mr Pooly-D is back on our countdown yet again, and there’s a legit excuse for it too. Because honestly this book was clever, yes you heard right clever. Because every now and then even a nincompoop like Daniel Way can lay a golden egg. This book has its inconsistencies just like every issue before it, but for some Reason it seems like Danny boy’s laziness actually paid off for once. He used the same plot twist twice in two consecutive issues, and it's actually passable. This issue wasn't complete garbage like the past few books, it got the job done and its point across which is more than I can say for a Deadpool book this day and age. Overall it's entertaining and a good read when you're on the John. 5th place Red Lanterns #1 There's really not much to say about a spinoff title like this one except, good job for finding a way to tie it all in. Off the bat I can already see that this book is meant for something great, but I can also see that one of it's greatest asset will be it’s downfall. Let's just hope that things pull through for atrocitous and his gang of space "bloods"
4th Place Daredevil #3 This book written by the legendary Mark Waid hasn't missed a step ever since he came into the project. The books feel like one shots when it's clearly a 2-3 part story, but regardless it was amazing. I can honestly say that I'm not a fan of Mat Murdock at all, but this book changed my mind. This at least gives me hope that there's actually something good amongst the 80 issues that marvel puts out every week. 3rd place Batman and Robin 1
This book is entertaining right from the start, you can tell that Peter J. Tomassi is following the continuity that Grant Morrisson left for the book. But in his own way, this book revolves a lot around one theme father and son. And you can tell that there’s tension and unresolved issues amongst the Wayne family off the bat (no pun intended). Now with a new threat that still remains unknown to Gotham city, can the very first father and son dynamic duo resolve their issues before it’s too late? Or will we see another death in the family. Only one way to find out right?
2nd Place Fear Itself #6 (of &7) Ever since Marvels “architects” had their press conference at Midtown Comics back in December about the event I was hyped about it, I thought that maybe putting Brubakers understudy in charge of Marvels next big thing would take off the bitter sweet taste that was Siege. I thought that maybe Marvel would do something good for once, but I was wrong, I expected too much from a company that puts out a lot of crap on the weekly basis. Any who this penultimate issue wasn’t half bad, it was actually half way good for an event that was 7 issues too long (yes I know what I said). This issue was all about preparing for the final confrontation between Asgard and the Serpent and earth being stuck in the middle of it all only makes things interesting. Now all we can do is sit back and wait for the last issue and see if they can actually pull through for once.
1st Place Green Lantern 1 This book was everything I expected and then some, I realize why Geoff Johns did the stuff he did back in the War of the Green Lanterns. And to Geoff I say, bravo and thank you for raising the bar not just for the Emerald Warrior but for the comic book business in general. This issue has it all, it explains why good ol’ Thal Siniestro is on the cover and not Hal Jordan. But don’t worry you get to see quite a bit of Hal in the book. But trust me when I say that when you read this book all the way through, there are so many directions this book can be headed you don’t know what to expect and that’s the way it should be. Bottom line, pick it up before your closest retailer runs out you WONT regret it. These were the books that made the stuffing on my taco taste so good the week of September 14, 2011. This has been the Emerald Speedster signing off and till next time…DEUCES!!! P.S-I’m well aware that ultimate Spiderman 1 came out, I read it and don’t worry. You’re not missing much. The book was nothing but a bad rip off of the movie Friday, hell after reading it I wouldn’t doubt that even rapper Ice Cube could have written something far better than the crap Bendis put out. |
